Fresh and Springy Cheeseboard

It is no secret to my friends and family that I could live off of a cheeseboard.  Seriously.  Cheese, meat, nuts, bread, what more does a girl need?  Last time I made a huge one of these for game night and it became appetizer, dessert, and late night snack.  Basically, you can’t go wrong with a plate of fancy snacks.  Here, I’ve changed things up a bit to reflect the fresh flavors of spring.  I also love the idea of adding some fresh spring veggies and hummus for even more color.

Here are my picks, but you could plate something pretty using any of the items below!  Stick with 2-3 cheeses, 1-2 meats, 1-2 veggies, and 1-2 “extras” for the perfect combination!

Blanched asparagus (prosciutto wrapped or plain)

Marinated artichokes

Baby carrots

Fresh blanched green beans


Pecorino Toscano: a sheep’s milk firm cheese

Herbed goat cheese

Goat’s milk gouda



Hard salami




Rosemary marcona almonds

Apricot preserves

Fresh honeycomb

Homemade hummus (try adding roasted red pepper, dill, or harissa!)


Now, if you can’t bear to hunt down cheeseboard ingredients yourself, there are some awesome places in Houston to get one.  Add a glass of something cold, a patio, and some excellent company for the perfect evening.  Here are my Houston favorites:
